Swimmers shadow Rotto endurance event
Seven teams took on the virtual Rottnest Channel Swim in Newman last month, swimming 20km at the local pool to replicate the popular open- water event.
Competitors were treated to a barbecue breakfast, free coffee and massages during the day, with one team enduring the pool for 10 hours.
Two 13-year-old girls completed the 20km swim in 5hr 55min.
The youngest competitor was 12-year-old Drew Ehrenreich, who competed in a team of four.
Aquatic services co-ordinator Andrew Price said it was a great event that started with a beautiful sunrise to set the swimmers on their way.
