Denmark celebrates favourite library
Denmark Public Library has been recognised by the Australian Library and Information Association as the country’s favourite rural library.
The library was nominated by a local library member, and then voted for by other members of the public as part of a campaign to help raise awareness of the importance of library services in the community.
The campaign kicked of national Library and Information week, which ends tomorrow.
Denmark Public Library manager Robyn Fairclough said she was thrilled with the support the service had received and said the community viewed the facility as more than just a library.
“We provide a really friendly environment for people to come, we provide programs for adults and children, so it’s not only a place to get books,” she said.
“The community is a really good community and they’ve really gotten behind us.”
Ms Fairclough thanked the library’s members.
“We’ve achieved our aim of encouraging people to visit and join the library,” she said.
WA’s favourite library was Mundijong Public Library.
