Businesses on track for Christmas

Two separate business ventures set to reinvigorate the Middleton Beach precinct are on track for completion and are set to open in less than a week.

RATS wine and tapas bar on Adelaide Crescent and Three Anchors on the foreshore have set opening dates after months of mystery surrounding when the two new establishments would open their doors.

Builder Tony Docking said the transformation of RATS had been on and off for the past 12 months but the new establishment was on the verge of receiving the finishing touches.

Recycled doors, brickwork and timber have been key features in the renovation, adding to the heritage of the venue.

Bar manager Roger Kleemann envisaged the mood of the bar to be relaxed and inviting.

“You will be able to enjoy a glass of wine without food and it will be a place where you can go and meet up with friends,” he said.

“If the people want to put in the effort we will reward them with the experience.”

Mr Kleemann said the venue would occasionally host local music acts and could also be booked out for private functions.

Down the road, Three Anchors is only eight days away from completion.

Mr Docking, who has worked closely with H+H Architects, said creating a free-flowing feel for Three Anchors was the key in the redesign.

Work on the refurbishment started in September and Mr Docking said his team had been working around the clock to have the venue finished in eight days time.

“Every renovation is challenging,” he said.
