Smoke alert for Stirling Ranges
The Department of Environment and Conservation (DEC) advises that residual smoke from a prescribed burn may affect visibility for motorists travelling along Chester Pass Road through the Stirling Range National Park this afternoon.
The prescribed burn was started by aerial ignition yesterday, 100km north-north-east of Albany in the Stirling Range.
The smoke is expected to impact the road this afternoon and this evening, and it is expected to clear tomorrow morning.
Motorists should take care, turn on headlights and travel at appropriate speeds when travelling in these areas. Signage and traffic management is in place on Chester Pass Road.
People with conditions exacerbated by smoke should take precautions in line with their medical advice for these circumstances.
