Detectives found cannabis plants worth an estimated $20,000 stuffed into a back shed in Nulsen yesterday.

Esperance police have seized a number of "six-foot" cannabis plants from a house, grown with what they described as a "sophisticated hydroponic setup".

Four officers raided the Nulsen property just before 10am yesterday.

They found seven plants in a back shed, which they said were nutrient-fed with pond pumps and assisted with lighting and light timers.

Early estimates suggest the haul of drugs and equipment could be worth more than $20,000.

The largest cannabis plant was up to six-foot high, stuffed with smaller saplings and medium-sized specimens into a 2m x 2m cupboard.

The haul is the second significant confiscation this month for Esperance police, who also seized 413g of cannabis after being tipped off by a member of the public.

Detective Senior Constable Ben Lucas, who attended the Morton Way house yesterday, said the recent cannabis haul was not the result of a targeted police operation.

"We are just targeting anything that comes to our attention," he said.

Detective Sergeant Darryl Noye said the find was "a significant seizure for Esperance".

The 42-year-old occupier was not present at the time of the raid but is assisting police with their inquiries.

The man's wife was home when police attended.
