Reckless Fields driver jailed

A Goldfields man who drove recklessly to escape police, with three passengers unsecured by seatbelts in the vehicle has received a mandatory jail term under West Australian law.

Quinton Davies was jailed for six months for the pursuit, which took place in August near the Jameson community, when he appeared in the Kalgoorlie Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

A violent assault on his partner in January led to Davies receiving an additional six months, bringing his total sentence to one year behind bars.

He and his partner were in Laverton on January 17 when a verbal altercation between the two prompted him to wrap his shirt around his hand and hit her several times.

Davies then picked up a rock and struck the victim in the head repeatedly, leaving her with cuts and bruising to her face.

Arrested and charged for the offence, Davies failed to appear in court on several occasions until he was eventually arrested for attempting to evade police.
