Owners wake to burning vehicles

Kalgoorlie-Boulder firefighters had their hands full when two vehicles were set on fire in the early hours of yesterday.

A Toyota Prado was completely burnt out on Graeme Street in Lamington about 2am.

Firefighters arrived and put the fire out, but the car was beyond saving. Kalgoorlie Police Sergeant Gerry Rafferty said investigations were under way, but no suspects had been apprehended.

He said forensics would do what they could to extract any evidence from the vehicle.

Meanwhile, a utility was also set alight on Conliffe Place in Golden Grove about 2.50am.

The vehicle was only a metre from a house and could have been much more serious had the blaze not been extinguished.
