Coolgardie Day record

This year’s Coolgardie Day has been hailed as one of the biggest in history.

Coolgardie Shire president Malcolm Cullen estimated at least 12,000 people had attended yesterday’s event.

Visitors to the town’s biggest day of the year, mostly those travelling from Kalgoorlie-Boulder to Perth, were greeted with numerous attractions including rides, showbags and a street parade.

He said lines of 20m to 40m had been lining up at stalls in sideshow alley for hours.

“All the show people and the stall owners are recording excellent trading,” Cr Cullen said.

Cr Cullen said the “perfect weather” had helped to attract the crowd to the town.
