Cr Botica rewarded for service

An earthquake, a legal dispute and a breastfeeding scandal are just some of the storms weathered by City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder councillor Deborah Botica during her 17 years at the table.

But the city’s longest-serving councillor says she’s not finished yet.

Joining the council in 1995, Cr Botica was recognised for her long and loyal service earlier this month with a WA Local Government Association Award.

Cr Botica said she was proud to to receive the award.

“Receiving the award for long service means a lot to me,” Cr Botica said.

“I have really tried to take pride in my job as a city councillor.

“I wanted to make sure I could do as much as I could for people in the community.”
