Tower clock out of action for year

Kalgoorlie-Boulder's historic clock tower could be out of time for as long as the next 12 months.

The clock has not been working since soon after work began on the Kalgoorlie Courthouse Development on Hannan Street.

A spokeswoman for the Department of the Attorney-General said: “It’s the department’s objective to have the clock working again as soon as possible.

“The builder is now doing substantial work around the tower area which precludes access to the clock. Power to the site is also currently off for this reason.

“It is anticipated that the clock may be out of action for about 12 months.”

The $44 million project reached a milestone last year with restoration of the heritage facade to replicate how the building would have looked originally.
