RSPCA appalled at cruel sheep video

The RSPCA say they are appalled at a video posted on facebook of a sheep being cruelly treated by two men near a Greenough farm property.

The video, posted on Saturday, shows a man grab a sheep by its rear and hurl it around.

Another male runs in to join in the act, lunging at the head of the animal and tackling it to the ground.

Both men walk off laughing as the animal slumps helplessly on the ground.

Another man filmed the cruel episode with a mobile phone from a vehicle metres away

An RSPCA spokesperson on Tuesday said an investigation had been launched into the incident.

“We are appalled at the treatment to this animal,” he said.

“Attempts are being made to contact the property owners to find out more about the incident.

“Animals are not to be used for the fun and amusement of people and are certainly not to be handled in this way by some mindless yahoos – it’s no laughing matter.”

Those found guilty of cruelty under the Animal Welfare Act 2002 could face maximum penalties of $50,000 and five years in jail.
