Dingo hitches ride across WA

This young dingo pup had a long journey from the Pilbara to its new home at Dongara.

She was found on a Rio Tinto minesite near Tom Price, sitting in the middle of a haul road with massive ore trucks veering around her.

Weak from dehydration, she was treated with electrolytes by site environmental adviser Rebecca Britton.

Ms Britton called Rose Best of Pilbara Wildlife Carers Association, which is notified whenever injured or orphaned wildlife is found on a Rio Tinto site.

A ride was arranged on an ore train to Dampier, from where Ms Best contacted Mr Thurn, whose Dongara property was already home to four dingoes that have become a popular attraction.
