Model Tiah Eckhardt's tips for ridding post-baby padding

Models can seem superhuman at times - even more so when they spring back to their pre-baby body so quickly after giving birth.

But Perth model Tiah Eckhardt says that it's not solely down to good genes.

The 24-year-old redhead gave up smoking and alcohol when she became pregnant with her daughter, Finley, last year. Since then, she has made more health-conscious changes to her lifestyle.

"After having Finley, I upped the exercise and cut out junk food. I eat for health's sake mostly, basic food pyramid stuff," she said.

"Anything that isn't the healthiest option or no nutritional value doesn't come anywhere near me. When I indulge, I make sure it's worth it."

Eckhardt doesn't own a car and credits walking as a way to help keep in shape.

"I think new mums wonder where they would find the time to exercise but it's worth trying to make the time, having an hour at the gym or going for a walk as often as possible," she said.

And it's not just to shed the baby weight either. It allows for a little "me time" and helps her to juggle motherhood and a career, without the support of her family in Perth. She recently relocated to Sydney with partner Patrick.

"We cope by helping each other out and being as organised as possible," she said. "We both have schedules that are scattered and hectic but flexible.

"My agents manage my schedule brilliantly. Together we find a way to make everything work but they understand that I'm now a mum and that's my top priority."
