Rolling Stones back for Australia tour
The Rolling Stones tour cancelled by the death of Mick Jagger's long-time girlfriend has been rescheduled for October and November this year, promoters Frontier Touring said today.
Precise dates are yet to be determine but Frontier said the Stones would resume the Australia and New Zealand leg of the world tour between October 25 and November 22.
Ticket holders have been asked to keep their tickets until further notice.
It is understood refunds will be available for ticket holders who cannot attend the rescheduled concerts.
“Exact dates for each city will be released as soon as the scheduling is confirmed,” Frontier Touring said./
“The Rolling Stones wish to thank their fans in Australia and New Zealand for their patience and understanding at this time.”
The Rolling Stones were originally scheduled to start their ‘14 On Fire’ tour of Australia and New Zealand at Perth Arena on Wednesday, March 19.
The world tour was postponed, however, after the death of Jagger’s girlfriend, fashion designer L’Wren Scott, on March 17.
The 70-year-old frontman took to his website to share his grief over the 49-year-old’s death.
They pair had been dating for over a decade.
“I will never forget her,” he said. "I am still struggling to understand how my lover and best friend could end her life in this tragic way.
"We spent many wonderful years together and had made a great life for ourselves. She had great presence and her talent was much admired, not least by me.
"I have been touched by the tributes that people have paid to her, and also the personal messages of support that I have received.
“I will never forget her."
The Rolling Stones will play their first gig back on tour in the Norwegian capital of Oslo next month.
