J.Lo announces first ever Australian tour

Jennifer Lopez will kick off her first ever Australian tour at the Perth Arena on December 6.

The visit Down Under for five shows is part of the 43-year-old pop singer and actress' Dance Again World Tour.

Despite selling 70 million albums since releasing her debut album, On the 6, in 1999 and appearing in more than 25 movies, including Out of Sight and Maid in Manhattan, this is the first world tour for the superstar better known as J.Lo.

"This is something I really needed to do for the fans – and for myself," Lopez told The West Australian during a tour stop in Kansas City, Missouri on Saturday.

"I've been making music for a long time and it seems to be a shame not to do it."

J.Lo is almost two months into the extensive tour which will include shows in North and South America, Europe and Asia before the Australian leg opens in Perth.

"My job is to make sure everyone has a good time and every night is a different experience," the mother of four-year-old twins said.

"We're sharing a moment with the audience and they can see how it affects you if a song really moves me and you can see it on my face."

Tickets go on sale August 21 from Ticketek.
