Katy Perry rocks the Super Bowl

How do you top a Beyonce performance? The answer according to Katy Perry is ride a giant tiger and perform your quick changes in front of 100 million people.

For her Super Bowl halftime show, Perry sang through a medley of her songs from Roar, to Dark Horse, to I Kissed a Girl (with help from rock star Lenny Kravitz) to Teenage Dream and California Gurls.

She arrived atop a giant golden tiger with red eyes and in a dress of flames - talk about coming out all guns blazing.

And while the giant tiger was something of a scene-stealer, Perry's seemingly impossible quick changes caused the biggest stir.

She went from colourful costume to extravagant outfit in the blink of an eye - leaving many questioning how she did it.

"Katy Perry just ruined it for all woman. She changed in public in 10 seconds. You have no excuses now," AdiVerb tweeted.

"Halftime drinking game: take a shot every time Katy Perry changes" LifeWithAlcohol tweeted.

She also brought out rocker Lenny Kravitz and then hip-hop legend Missy Elliot, a surprise guest, to help her pad out her performance.

But all her bells and whistles just weren't enough to get many people past last year's performance by Queen Bey herself.

More than a few people stole from Kanye West's infamous line when he stormed the stage at the 2009 VMA awards, insisting Beyonce should have won instead of Taylor Swift.

"I'ma let you finish Katy Perry, but we all know what the greatest halftime show of all time was," themikechiappa tweeted.

"Yo Katy Perry, I'm going to let you finish but Beyonce had one of the greatest half time performances of all time" ItsThingsInLife posted.

One fan called Perry out for the use of props on a set which also included a giant chessboard.

"Katy Perry needed a giant tiger, dancing techno horses, and walking Palm trees to be entertaining. All Beyonce had to do was sing," chelseafinn2 tweeted.

Hip-hop star Missy Elliot, who hasn't released music in almost 10 years, was thanked for saving the performance by some.

"Missy is so amazingly amazingly brilliant God I love her plus she just saved Katy perry so wow," EveVawter tweeted.

"Thank You Missy Elliot for saving the train wreck that is Katy Perry," BaelockHolmes tweeted.

But even with all those quick changes, Perry avoided a wardrobe malfunction like Janet Jackson's famous nipple-slip at the 2004 halftime Super Bowl show.

Perry will forever go down in history as the master of the quick change.
