Beauty eyes tipping crown

Brittany Taylor is out to prove that women know their footy as well as men.

The former Miss Universe WA contestant and Miss World State finalist has signed on this year to be one of the tipsters for The West Australian's PreGame liftout, which will publish its Round 1 tips in Friday's paper.

Taylor, who is also the TAB touch ambassador, said she wanted to show the public that although she is a potential beauty queen, she could still be the dark horse in WA's leading footy tipping competition.

"I don't think that a beauty queen can't have other interests," Taylor said.

"I definitely have a boyish side of me when it comes to sport and I do follow most sports pretty closely, so I do have a fair idea.

"On face value, people might think, why is a girl like me doing footy tipping, but I am around footy all the time, so I could be the dark horse of this competition."

While Taylor said she felt pretty confident tipping herself, she didn't rule out getting help from her Swan Districts footballer boyfriend David McKay during a difficult round.

"If there is a tough round and I am 50/50 I might enlist his expertise," she said.

"We have a few bets together on the weekend, so he will be a bit of handy help should I get stuck on a game."

A longtime West Coast Eagles member, the 19-year-old said she wasn't going to be obliged to vote for her team just out of loyalty.

"No, it won't be hard to tip against the Eagles because I tip with my head, not with my heart," she said.
