Stan to stream for Nine

The Nine Network and Fairfax have dubbed their $100 million subscription video joint venture with the unassuming moniker, Stan.

Chief executive of the joint venture company StreamCo Mike Sneesby on Wednesday said home-grown Hollywood star Rebel Wilson would be the face of Stan.

The company also announced it had first-run rights for Better Call Saul, the prequel to Breaking Bad.

It also said Stan would be the exclusive subscription video on demand home for Breaking Bad in Australia.

The new video service will take on existing subscription players Quickflix and Foxtel's Presto arm.

Speculation is also rife video streaming giant Netflix will soon enter the Australian market.
