Questionable MH17 audio tape 'revealed' by Russian newspaper

A newspaper has posted a highly questionable audiotape on its website that supposedly reveals two US spies plotting to bring down Malaysia Airlines flight MH17.

The Russian newspaper called Komsomolskaya Pravda claims the two men in the recording are two Americans identified as David Hamilton and David Lloyd Stern.

The voices on the tape speak in English but the words and phrases sound like they could be from a native Russian speaker.

The six recordings, that sounds almost comical, were allegedly intercepted by CIA agents, reports Fairfax media.

The conversations begin with Hamilton asking Stern "Hello. How are the preparations?"

It was allegedly recorded on June 25, 2014, about three weeks before MH17 was shot down and 298 people died, including 39 Australians.

Stern answers Hamilton with 'Everything is according to plan' and the tape, which goes on for seven minutes, details the alleged lead up to the tragedy.

In one of the last conversations Stern tells Hamilton that he has documentation of their criminal deed so he cannot be set up 'to take the fall'.
