Drunk driver 'sped in school zone'

A drunk driver has been banned from driving and had her vehicle seized after she was caught speeding through a school zone in Southern River on Tuesday, police allege.

The 38-year-old woman was allegedly driving the white Holden Utility at 49km/h in the 40km/h zone on Furley Road, about 2.50pm.

Traffic enforcement group officers stopped her and when they breath-tested her she allegedly recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.178.

The woman, from Southern River, will be charged by summons for driving under the influence, having no authority to drive and exceeding the speed limit in a school zone.

Police seized her utility for 28 days and her licence was immediately suspended.

She is expected to appear in the Armadale Magistrates Court on March 17.
