Woman, 70, dies on Burrup walk

One woman is dead and another is recovering in hospital after the pair became lost in the State’s North West.

The two women, aged in their 70s, were walking the Burrup Peninsula, near Dampier, yesterday afternoon when they became disorientated and phoned for help.

A police search located the pair after about 90 minutes but when officers arrived one of the women had become ill and collapsed.

It is understood the women had no food or water.

Police performed CPR on the woman but she died at the scene.

St John Ambulance transported the second woman to Karratha’s Nickol Bay Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
