Tanner gets Freo lifeline

Fremantle will give Tanner Smith another AFL chance despite delisting the defender as part of the end-of-season list adjustment.

The Dockers have confirmed they promise to select Smith in the rookie draft.

Smith joined the club from the 2012 draft and played his only AFL match in round four last year.

Before today’s move, Fremantle had delisted Josh Simpson, Sam Menegola and Michael Wood while Kepler Bradley and Scott Gumbleton have both retired.

Fremantle has four picks in the national draft on 27 November at 13, 34, 54 and 72.
