Trailer helps Kwinana Salvos carry on work

Kwinana Salvation Army captians Erica and Peter Jones and Support Services coordinator Derek Tickner are grateful for the donation of a new trailer.

It was smiles all around at the Kwinana Salvation Army last week when the team were given a new trailer after its previous one was stolen in July.

After the disappointment Captain Peter Jones felt a few months ago, he was over the moon to learn Select Mortgage Services' Peter Erzey and Purely Commercial's Andrew New wanted to donate a box trailer and have it secured with a waterproof canvas displaying the Salvation Army's emblem. Capt. Jones said for the past few weeks he had discussed design, colour and sponsorship with the pair to ensure the wishes of the charity were carried out.

He said the Kwinana unit staff and volunteers were grateful for the help of PTE Trailers, Munster Motor Trimmers and Stock Road Auto Electricians, which jumped on board to help make the project possible.

Capt. Jones said the trailer was vital for the charity's work and would be put to good use in the coming weeks for collecting toys, goods and donations ahead of Christmas.

He said the donation of the trailer was much appreciated because he estimated the replacement could have cost more than $2000, which would have eaten into funds earmarked for other services.

"That money pays for people to have a warm or cool place to come and have a coffee or a hot shower - it could have taken away from our community work," Capt. Jones said.
