Man arrested on child exploitation charges

A 27-year-old Atwell man has been charged with online child exploitation offences after he allegedly arranged a meeting with a person who he believed was a 14-year-old boy.

Police allege the man used an online community board in an attempt to meet teenagers in September.

It is also alleged he used the community board and a social media application to communicate with the person who he believed was 14 years old throughout September and October.

He allegedly organised to meet the boy at a location in the metropolitan area yesterday.

He was arrested by detectives from the online child exploitation squad when he arrived at the location.

The man has been charged with two counts of exposing a person believed to be under 16 years to indecent matters.

He is due to appear in the Perth Magistrate’s Court today.
