Block brothers see lighter side

They are the larrikin brothers who love to stir up trouble on The Block's latest series but *Shannon * and *Simon Vos * say they are simply trying to lighten the mood.

The Coffs Harbour-raised siblings came under fire recently for secretly recording the judges' comments during a room reveal and their fellow teams publicly slammed the boys' shady tactics.

However, the duo told _Access All Areas _the incident was blown out of proportion.

"I think everyone enjoyed it as much as we did," Simon, 28, grinned.

"We were waiting for a lot of hate but there are a lot of people who saw our side and thought we were just trying to be funny."

Shannon, 35, chimed in: "That's something we carry on into every day - trying to be lighthearted and having a bit of fun because it's all so serious and we are so tired so we need a bit of an outlet."

The two tradies were in *Perth * yesterday on a whirlwind visit but they are no strangers to *WA * - Shannon was based in the city for a short working stint two years ago and Simon also spent two months in *Geraldton *.

When they get back to the Melbourne renovation site, the brothers will face one of their biggest challenges yet when The Block: Glasshouse apartments are deemed open for inspection before auction day next month.

But rather than being nervous about how their pad is received, it's meeting thousands of viewers in one weekend that has the pair spooked.

"I am not used to heaps of people saying 'I want to have a photo with you'," Simon admitted. "I think 'I am just a tradie, I am normal'."

Shannon made headlines for a different reason this week when it was revealed he was "secretly" engaged to his partner *Lisa *, having popped the question just before filming for the Nine show began.

The interior design student said the news was not under wraps - they had just chosen not to publicise it straight away.

And while he has built up a reputation on The Block for his styling finesse, Shannon will be leaving wedding planning to his bride-to-be.

"That's her forte," he laughed. "It's definitely something that we want to sit down and organise."
