Sheree Murphy is heading to Ramsay Street.

The English actress, who is married to the Australian soccer star Harry Kewel said she was excited to be going back to work after landing a role on long-running Aussie soap Neighbours.

"It's just kicked in that it's actually happening. I'm going back to work. The kids don't remember me on (UK soap) Emmerdale, so they're excited about seeing mummy on TV," Murphy told Hello! Magazine.

"The last thing I did was Hollyoaks and I was really nervous. I feel a bit like that on Neighbours, not necessarily because they watch English soaps but more because it's 'Oh, that's Harry Kewell's wife - what's she doing?'"

Murphy has four children with Kewell, who recently retired from the game, playing his last match in his home town of Sydney.

He said he had no regrets about retiring, saying: "Overall, I got the fairytale ending - I got to walk out with my kids and play against my home team. It's not down to me now - it's down to the next generation of Australian footballers to prove themselves."

The couple divide their time between Australia and the UK and Murphy admitted it could be difficult.

"The rewards are great and I would never complain but it's just missing your best mate," she said.

"You have to work as a team. If you're both fighting for the spotlight or a big career, I can see that's how relationships can break down. We always wanted one of us to be at home with the kids and said that once Harry retired I would go to work.

"Harry has almost been pushing me out the door, encouraging me to do stuff. It's all about juggling and making sure you make people happy."
