Terrifying moment police car slams into crowd

WARNING - DISTRESSING CONTENT: Horrific footage has emerged showing a police car run down a crowd of people gathered to watch cars do burnouts in the street.

The dramatic incident unfolded in Tacoma in the US state of Washington on the evening of January 24, leaving at least one person injured.

Police had been called to the area after cars blocked an intersection and others did burnouts and doughnuts to a crowd of about 100 people, according to Kiro7.

A responding officer was surrounded by spectators after arriving at the scene, and was allegedly harassed.

The officer reportedly tried reversing to escape the crowd but couldn’t, so drove forward, ploughing through a group of people standing in front of the car.

Tacoma police officer Wendy Haddow told the publication one person fell and was run over, and was later taken to hospital with “minor injuries”.

A video shared to social media showed a car doing burnouts before police arrived, while another showed the police vehicle running over the body.

The footage has sparked widespread uproar online.
