Teens hospitalised after out-of-control car slams into tree
Two teenagers are in a serious condition in hospital after slamming their car into a tree on the Gold Coast.
The driver lost control of the vehicle carrying one passenger in Southport around 10.30pm Wednesday while travelling along Cotlew Street East.
Emergency crews had to cut the two 18-year-old occupants from the vehicle that was wrapped around the tree on the medium strip.
"Obviously speed has been involved here by the way (the vehicle is) wrapped around the tree," said Queensland Fire and Emergency Service's Peter McMillan.
The occupants were taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in serious but stable conditions, police said in a statement.
Investigations into the crash are continuing.
