R *ose Tejedor *could not be more proud her son *Josh *, who is the youngest contestant ever to cook on My Kitchen Rules.

Josh was desperate to turn 18 so he could apply for the Seven show, and brought his beloved mum along for the ride, making them the first mother-son pair to compete on the series.

The Melbourne duo made their kitchen debut last night and, despite a number of mishaps adding extra stress to their instant restaurant, Rose told _AAA _ she was as proud as punch of how her son, now 19, coped with the pressure-cooker environment.

"I always knew he would do well but what he did was incredible," she beamed. "My husband and I are so proud of him."

Josh said he couldn't imagine taking on the competition with anyone else.

"Mum and I have always worked well together and I think we maintained that during our instant restaurant," the commerce student said.

"She does get quite emotional, it's something I have had to deal with, but we got through it."

Aiming to pay homage to Rose's Uruguayan heritage, the twosome dished up a South American and Spanish-inspired spread of stuffed squid, seafood paella and apple empanadas.

However, a series of what the 48-year-old called "silly mistakes" meant they received mixed feedback from the judges and finished on the middle of the leaderboard with 66 out of 110 points.
