Blogger's tearful video after Apple 'sacks her dad over leaked iPhone X footage'

The daughter of a sacked Apple engineer shared a tearful video begging for the online vitriol to cease after her behind-the scenes vlog of the unreleased iPhone X reportedly caused his dismissal.

Brooke Amelia Peterson published the video on Tuesday of her gushing over her dad’s unreleased phone, in a "hands-on" demonstration video recorded while meeting him at his work cafeteria.

It’s not surprising the clip went viral, shared on tech websites and YouTube, with the leak of the intellectual property causing upset at the Apple camp days before the new phone's release.

Ms Peterson claims her father has been fired as a result of what she has called an “innocent mistake”.

The footage appeared to reveal special employee-only QR codes and details of unreleased Apple products.

Apple reportedly requested the young woman remove the video, which she explains in the follow up blog she immediately did, but the content had already spread broader on YouTube at that point.

“Hate on me all you want, but please don’t hate on my father,” a tearful Ms Peterson begged her viewers.

“I don’t understand the amount of hate in this world,” she added.

In the clip, Ms Peterson acknowledged her father violated the company’s rule of filming at Apple’s campus, but said he was a wonderful, caring man that didn’t deserve the online abuse her clip instigated.

The axed Apple engineer was believed to have been an employee for about four years and built the iPhone RF and wireless circuit design, according to The Verge.

While the new features of the iPhone X were announced more than six weeks ago, the phone is not yet commercially available.

The iPhone X is due for Australian release on Friday, with pre-orders now available.
