Underwater hockey players from Busselton excelled at this year's Underwater Hockey National Championship in Sydney, taking home gold, silver and bronze medals.

Bailey Annear and Ella Croft, who competed in the under-15s division were among the gold medal winners in the WA team, while Jade Boyle, Jade Smith and Sam Parkhurst placed third overall with their team in the under-15s development squad.

Jacob Croft's team also received the silver medal in the under-19s division.

Coach Peter Croft said the results were fantastic for the club and showed what was possible within the sport.

"This is a sport where you can reasonably expect to reach the State level if you put enough effort in," he said. "If you do a fair bit of training and you're good enough, you can expect to represent the country. It's great for fitness and confidence in the water."

Croft said anyone interested in taking part could attend training on Thursday nights at the Geographe Leisure Centre with juniors training from 6pm and seniors from 7pm.
