Taylor Swift: Ticketek 'glitch' appears to re-sell Aussie fan's $659 ticket
The young Melbourne woman says she was 'heartbroken' when her VIP concert ticket seemingly vanished from her Ticketek account.
An Aussie Taylor Swift fan says she was left "heartbroken" after believing Ticketek had "stolen" her VIP ticket, re-listed it and sold it to another fan without her knowledge due to a "glitch" on the company's problem-plagued website.
Rebecca spent weeks on the Ticketek Marketplace app checking for resales of tickets for Taylor Swift's much touted Eras Tour. Eventually, the 21-year-old purchased a VIP package for $659 on December 3 for the February show in Melbourne. "This is after many breakdowns trying to get tickets," she said.
An email confirmation came through and the ticket landed in her Ticketek account. However weeks later, after noticing others were beginning to get their VIP packages while she hadn't, she checked her account again and discovered the ticket was "gone" with no explanation. "It's just disappeared," she said, sharing her dismay on social media after struggling to gain a clear answer from the ticket vendor.
Ticketek responds to 'stolen' Taylor Swift ticket claim
Rebecca, who confirmed her complaint to Yahoo on Sunday night, said after days of trying to get through to Ticketek on the phone with no answer, her mum went into their box office in the city for answers where an employee said the ticket had "glitched out" of Rebecca's account and was "re-listed" for sale.
"[They said] 'someone else has it, we don’t know who, we can’t check or track who has your ticket'," the 21-year-old said. "All they could do was issue me a refund, I have essentially had my ticket stolen from me."
After failing to get the situation sorted and her ticket reinstated by Ticketek's customer service, Rebecca went online to try to get answers on Sunday. This is about when the company was finally able to ensure she still had a ticket, despite apparently being told otherwise. "We have now reached out to Rebecca to confirm," the spokesperson said.
In a statement to Yahoo on Monday, Ticketek said the situation had been rectified and other customers needn't worry about any such glitches in their online marketplace.
"[We] apologise to Rebecca for any confusion. We can assure Rebecca that she now has tickets in her account," a spokesperson said.
Swifties and music fans share similar experiences
Rebecca's worried video on TikTok, which quickly amassed more than 260,000 views, has thousands of comments from angry Australians calling out Ticketek's "messed up" system while others claimed the same "glitch" happened to them. "Exact same thing happened to me, took days to get in contact and be issued a refund, which all up I received no apology. Will never use Ticketek again," one commenter claimed.
"I had three tickets scammed from my account for Dom Dolla in Melbourne in December and re-sold off Ticketek Marketplace. Didn’t know until we tried to get into the venue on the night and our tickets were cancelled," another said.

Ticketek site is working 'as expected' despite complaints from Taylor Swift fans
When questioned about the stability of their Marketplace, a Ticketek spokesperson told Yahoo last month the platform was working "as expected".
"The Ticketek Marketplace site is working as expected. Fans are listing and buying tickets as inventory becomes available," they said.
More than four million people tried to grab tickets for the Eras Tour originally, while only around 500,000 are actually available. The megastar is in Melbourne on February 16 to 18 and Sydney on February 23 to 26 during the Australian leg of her global tour.
