Toddler left with serious injuries after being run over in Sydney

A toddler has been transported to hospital in a serious condition after paramedics responded to reports of a young child being hit by a car in the inner west of Sydney.

According to a statement provided to Yahoo News Australia, multiple crews and a specialist medical team were dispatched to the scene on Friday afternoon.

Nine News reports the child was 21-months-old from Strathfield and emergency services received the call at 3.45pm.

The child was treated for a serious head injury and the child was then transported to Westmead Children’s Hospital.

“Incidents like these are a parent’s and paramedic’s worst nightmare,” Joe Ibrahim, NSW Ambulance Duty Operations Manager said in the statement.

“As you can imagine arriving at a job like this is fairly horrendous, it was very upsetting for the first responders on scene.

“Going to a job where a child is involved is extremely difficult for paramedics, the crews on scene work together to get the best possible outcome for our patients.”
