Man's delightful reaction to 'cracking' $1 million Lotto win

A man says he and his wife will be able to retire after winning $1,172,770 in the Saturday Lotto.

The man, from St Ives, in Sydney's north, was one of five division one winners to take home the hefty sum, The Lott announced on Tuesday.

“Seriously? Oh my god. You’re kidding?” he exclaimed when contacted by lottery officials, calling the win a "cracking amount of money".

“My wife is going to fall off her chair when I tell her this!”

The semi-retired man said the money will help the couple pay off their mortgage and help out their children.

“We’re semi-retired but we will be able to completely retire now and we certainly won’t have to worry about anything. We will be able to simply enjoy ourselves!”

Emma Thurlow, the owner of St Ives Village Newsagency where the ticket was purchased, said they had been waiting four years for a division one win.

“Hopefully, this will start the ball rolling and we’ll have a few more big prizes won by our customers in quick succession!” she said.
