Sydney COVID: Restaurant staff worked for 10 days 'while infectious'

Scores of diners at another Sydney restaurant may have been exposed to the coronavirus after two staff members worked across ten days while potentially infectious.

Among the nine cases recorded in the 24 hours to 8pm on Friday are two staff members at Chopstix Asian Cuisine at Smithsfield RSL in Sydney's southwest.

Anyone who dined at the restaurant between July 31 and August 9 is considered a casual contact, and must monitor for symptoms.

They must also immediately self-isolate and get tested if they become ill.

A diner at Rick Stein at Bannisters in Mollymook on the south coast, who is not included in Friday's numbers, has also tested positive.

Anyone who was at the restaurant on August 1 between 8pm and 10.30pm for at least one hour is considered a close contact, and must immediately self-isolate and get tested.

One student from Tangara School for Girls, one case linked to the Mounties club at Mount Pritchard, and five close contacts of known cases are included in Friday's numbers.

The Tangara school in Cherrybrook, now linked to 22 cases, was on Friday cleared by police of any breaches of public health orders.

Police were called in to investigate whether the school had broken the rules amid media reports that social distancing wasn't being enforced and extra curricular activities were going ahead.

The outbreak has been linked to a nearby Opus Dei Catholic study centre, Eremeran, which is closed for cleaning after recently hosting five senior schoolgirls.
