Spy plane may have captured image of Madeleine McCann abduction

A spy plane being used during a NATO training exercise may have captured an image of the person who abducted Madeleine McCann, says military expert Philip Burden.

The British expert claims images captured are clear enough to identify people's faces and could be used to provide crucial information into the disappearance of the three-year-old.

“The aircraft may provide a new lead in the hunt for Madeleine," he told The Express.

"During the early and late evening of May 3, 2007, the day Madeleine disappeared from the holiday resort of Praia da Luz, the plane took aerial photos of that stretch of the Algarve.

"It was on a NATO training exercise and had been used on similar missions over other European countries at other times."

"I'm told that there were a number of low-level passes over the resort as part of a lengthy photo reconnaissance training mission. Although the light was fading, people and buildings could be clearly seen."

While Burden added the strips of film were initially passed on to Portuguese police, the pictures were not evident when secret police files were later published.

Scotland Yard has refused to comment on the claims, preferring to neither confirm or deny the claims.
