Sprinkler bans being ignored

A number of residents in the Goldfields are ignoring the sprinkler roster created by the State Government five years ago.

Under the roster, introduced in 2007, residents can use their sprinklers before 9am or after 6pm two days a week.

While the Water Corporation said the response across the region had been positive, a small portion continued to ignore the restrictions.

Forty-three infringements have been issued in the Goldfields in the past two weeks alone, bringing the total number of infringements since July to 73.

Water Corporation Goldfields and Agricultural regional manager Hugh Lavery said residents needed to check their irrigation controllers to ensure they were in compliance with the roster.
