Shocking act on Aussie couple's dream home: 'Devastating'

CCTV captured a group of teens coming and going from the property on several different occasions.

A couple just one month away from getting the keys to their brand new "dream home" are distraught after it was targeted by vandals, causing thousands of dollars of damage.

The new homeowners had purchased the property in Mango Hill, 30km north of Brisbane, and it was due for completion in June. But when they arrived at the property after the Labour Day long weekend, they found almost every surface of the home graffitied, with windows and doors smashed and holes put in the walls.

Outside, the home's facade – including the brand new roller door on the double garage – is covered in red and green graffiti, while inside large windows and glass sliding doors leading to the backyard have been smashed, with glass littering the floor.

In the kitchen, every inch of the countertop is covered in scrawling spray paint. One tag left on the kitchen island reads 'ACAB', an anti-police sentiment.

“It’s been a tough few days,” the homeowner, who wanted to remain anonymous, told 7 News.

“My partner can’t even come and look at the house because it’s just so devastating.

“We’re at breaking point now in terms of what we’re supposed to do as a community to stop these people.”

CCTV cameras capture youths entering home

Construction on the home began in September, with the couple saying CCTV has captured a group of youths entering and leaving the property on several different occasions.

It is believed other sites in the new estate have also been targeted.

Police confirmed they are investigating the incident.
