Serious injuries in Boxing Day crash

A man has been seriously injured after his car hit a tree early this morning.

At 2.30am a 34-year-old man was driving a Ford Falcon sedan north on Girrawheen Avenue in Girrawheen when he lost control of the vehicle at the roundabout on Calvert Street

The car struck a gum tree in the centre of the roundabout.

The driver was trapped in the vehicle and was cut free by emergency service workers.

He suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital.

Three hours earlier a 51-year-old man was airlifted to hospital after his four-wheel-drive hit a tree in Bullsbrook.

The man’s Toyota Landcrusier left the road about 11.30pm near the intersection of Brearley Street and Chittering Road.

He was flown via the RAC Rescue helicopter to Royal Perth Hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

Meanwhile an 18-year-old man suffered a broken his leg when the scooter he was riding was struck by a car in Geraldton.

The incident happened about 8.45pm on Thursday.

The teenager was taken to a local hospital before being flown to Perth via the Royal Flying Doctor Service
