Sabrina Hahn to open museum garden, take questions

Garden guru Sabrina Hahn will be at Greenough Pioneer Museum this Sunday for the grand opening of the new gardens — and to take questions and answers from gardening enthusiasts.

The event is free and runs from 10am to 3pm at the museum, on Phillips Road, Greenough.

Ms Hahn will also officially name the heritage and heirloom garden as Elizabeth’s Garden, after Elizabeth Maley, wife of pioneer John Stephen Maley, to whom the museum is largely dedicated.

The day will include a Q&A with Ms Hahn, food stalls, licensed bar, raffles and children’s activities, including a scarecrow competition.

Garden manager Peter Dameon said the gardens were started more than a year ago and had been developed in conjunction with the Durack Institute of Technology, with help and labour from the Greenough Regional Prison education program.

The gardens include heritage and heirloom vegetables and fruit, aquaponics and demonstrate sustainable garden practices.

Tours and explanation of the garden will be conducted throughout the day. Ph 9926 1890.
