Mum begs for answers after daughter found unconscious, bleeding on road

A distraught mother is begging for answers after her 10-year-old daughter was found bruised and bloodied outside her Adelaide home.

Good samaritans who stopped to help the girl say she was hit by a car in Mount Barker, but the driver was nowhere to be seen.

"I don't know how someone could do that, how could you hit somebody and not stop?," Alannah's mother Lisa Davey said.

"I don't know. She was unconscious and they just left."

The 10-year-old had gone to play at her favourite spot, a park 20 metres from her home.

Her mum was at home vacuuming when her afternoon turned into a nightmare.

"It's the worst thing you could ever think," she said.

Three women stopped to help in the frantic moments before paramedics arrived.

"They told me there was another guy there when they stopped and he said, 'she's been hit by a car', but then when police and the ambulance rocked up, he was gone," Lisa Davey said.

"We don't know who it was because they were too busy trying to help my daughter."

Neighbours said traffic through the area was often too fast.

"I'm not surprised because the traffic is ... like a race track through here," one neighbour told 7 News.

Police are appealing for anyone who saw Alannah leave her home around lunchtime on Sunday and cross the road to the park to come forward with information.

Any dash cam vision could prove critical in finding out exactly what happened.

"Do the right thing," Alannah's mother said. "Turn yourself in."
