Rural Aussie mum's unlikely find while unpacking dishwater: 'Not touching that'

Shannon Crocker admits she has never previously made such a tummy-turning discovery.

Like most domestic chores emptying the dishwasher is a dull but necessary task. Last week an unlikely find inside one woman's dishwasher left her shocked and "grossed out", forcing her to run her dishes through another cycle.

Shannon Crocker lives in Muckadilla — a regional town in southwest Queensland — and found a green tree frog lying flat on its back inside the appliance, clearly dead after getting its hind leg stuck between the vents of the filter.

The mum admits there was no smell or sign there was a dead animal inside the dishwasher until she spotted it, expressing relief she hadn't yet emptied any dishes.

"I thought…. Yuck! I am not touching that," she told Yahoo News. "We live in the bush so frogs in the house aren’t a rarity. Although I have never had one in the dishwasher before!"

Aussies question how the frog got there

Online many Aussies shared their shock over Crocker's find and questioned how the frog managed to get into the appliance, with the most likely explanation being it simply "hopped in" when she wasn't looking.

"I would say it’s hopped in at some stage, and I didn’t see it before I turned the dishwasher on at night," she said.

Tree frogs are found throughout Australia and are particularly prevalent in the eastern side of the country.

They often find themselves in unusual places with one Coles shopper accidentally taking one to the supermarket last year after the frog hid inside a reusable shopping bag, while another was found inside a bag of grapes at Woolworths.
