Archie Mountbatten Windsor has adorably cooed in his mother Meghan Markle’s arms while undertaking his first ever royal engagement.

The four-month-old’s public debut was first captured in an Instagram story video, shot moments before the Sussexes met Archbishop Desmond Tutu in Cape Town on Wednesday.

Archie meets Arch

In the clip, Archie is seen smiling at proud dad Prince Harry while decked out in a baby blue dungarees as the trio walk towards the cleric at his legacy foundation.

Once becoming acquainted with one another, Archie received a kiss from the South African anti-apartheid activist while held closely in his mother’s arms.

Upon entering the building, the royals joined Mr Tutu and his daughter Thandeka Tutu-Gxashe for a sit-down chat where the group understandably cooed at the adorable youngster.

Meghan went on to describe her son as an ‘old soul’ before Ms Tutu Gxashe joked the youngster was 'going to be a ladies' man'.

Surprising schedule addition

Archie’s appearance comes as a shock to most royal watchers due to the protective behaviour of his parents since his birth on May 6.

Besides long-lens snaps taken at a polo match in July, the bub had not being seen in public before he was pictured touching down in Africa on Monday ahead of a ten-day tour.

And while he’s largely been kept out of the spotlight, both Meghan and Harry have been open about how they’ve adapted to life as parents.

Soon after touching down in the Commonwealth capital, the prince revealed how his son behaved during the 11-hour flight.

"He was staring out the window as we flew in - looking at Table Mountain," Prince Harry told locals while at the historical District Six Museum.

The duke went on to disclose how Archie has held up after , telling another well-wisher the royal baby is "not grouchy, just exhausted".

Afterwards, when Harry was asked what his son was up to after arriving he replied, telling a young girl the baby was “sleeping”.

Online, royal watchers noted how Archie’s sliver of red hair made him look like his father’s ‘twin’.

“Archie looks so much like #PrinceHarry it’s adorable!” wrote one user.

“He looks so much like Harry I think,” another agreed.
