Mum 'so grateful' after garbage man's touching act of 'kindness'

An Aussie mother has praised her local garbage man for a simple yet " beautiful" gesture that left her two-year-old son "jumping up and down like crazy" and "screaming" for joy. Sydney mum Alicia, from Mount Annan in the city's southwest, said her two-year-old son Anthony excitedly looks forward to being visited by their garbage man, Wayne, every Friday morning.

She said Anthony is obsessed with garbage trucks and has made taking the bins out with him "part of our routine together".

Alicia said this week, she took Anthony out to greet Wayne as she normally would, but the pair were greeted with a surprise gift.

"Friday is bin day in our house, which is something that my son totally looks forward to. It always starts the night before, taking all the garbage out from the house and making him a part of every little bit that we do," she told Yahoo News Australia.

"We were getting ready for daycare, and we heard the truck coming so we ran outside onto the driveway as we always do and watched it come closer.

Garbo 'always makes extra effort'

"And the lovely man — Wayne — always waits for us, always beeps at my son and smiles and puts his window down. He really makes an effort to do this and this morning he was just rummaging in the back of the of the truck, quickly with his hand to grab something. Then he pulls out these two garbage bins for my son and for my daughter."

Alicia said Anthony "couldn't contain his excitement" after receiving the toys and was "jumping up and down" and "didn't let them go". "I can't even describe how happy he was — he was just ecstatic," Alicia said.

"With a two year old, cause they don't know how to contain their excitement, they just let it out either shaking, jumping or screaming and it was just on another level of that. He was just on a high."

The Sydney mother joked that while her son was truly content with his new present, "I think he made my morning more than my his".

"When somebody does something like this, it's just so uplifting," Alicia said. "I'm so grateful for your kindness."
