Aussie rental property goes viral over 'shoilet' – but it's not as it seems

A picture of an Adelaide rental, featuring what appeared to be a toilet inside a shower, got people talking, but the letting agent said the photo misrepresents the space.

The "low maintenance" unit in Mitchell Park is just over 10km from Adelaide's CBD and it was listed online for $290 a week.

The two-bedroom home itself is quaint, if not dated, but nothing seems out of the ordinary until you see the bathroom.

The bathroom is equipped with laundry provisions, a neat little sink and natural light comes streaming in through the window.

It also appears to have a shower, with a toilet in it. A "shoilet", as Lords of Property described it on Instagram.

"Introducing the 'Shoilet'. Only in Adelaide," the Instagram caption said.

The agent confirmed to Yahoo News Australia the toilet isn't actually in the shower and instead the toilet is surrounded by a privacy screen.

There is a separate shower over the bath, which cannot be seen in the photo.

Ultimate bathroom for 'multitasking'

While the toilet isn't actually in the shower, quite a few people loved the idea of the combination.

One person said it was a "big yes" from them, as they were keen on multitasking and another person said it would be the "ultimate time saver".

A few people suggested the combo would be ideal in the event of a hangover.

Someone else said this was an ideal set-up in a toilet paper crisis, but others were concerned about the loo paper getting wet.

"How does the loo paper not get wet? Or do you not have to use it when you can just shower? So many questions," one person said.

A few people mentioned they had seen similar designs overseas.

In addition to the two bedrooms and toilet-shower in the bathroom, the home also comes with a gas heater in the living room and a gas cooktop in the kitchen.

There are ceiling fans and a private garden out the back with a pergola, lawn area and garden shed, plus a single garage.

The property is still available to rent.
