Redheads rejoice: the ginger emoji has finally arrived on iPhone
It’s one of the most-demanded upgrades to the library of emoji we use on our phones – a red-haired emoji.
And it has finally happened, with ginger emoji now available on iPhone as part of the iOS 12.1 update.
The update adds 70 new emoji, and is available for iPhone now.
The updates come along with 70 other emoji that have been made available as part of the iOS 12.1 update that is now available to download.

For several years, redheads have been vexed that there is no emoji for their hair type – but several different shades of hair for vampires, for instance.

In Scotland – where 13% of the population is ginger – there have been online petitions for a ginger emoji.

A list of new emoji was approved at the Unicode Technical Committee meeting with Apple, according to Jeremy Burge, editor-in-chief of Emojipedia.
Burge said, ‘The most common feedback to Emojipedia since Apple released iOS 11.1 has been, “But what about the redheads?”’
