It’s spring mating season so boisterous snakes are having at it, however a seasoned Gold Coast snake catcher was a little shocked when she interrupted a swimming pool 'orgy' involving eight randy reptiles.

The awkward scene was unfolding in a backyard swimming pool in Nerang when Sam Howard had to break up the fun…and then some.

The terrified homeowners called Howard, Wild Encounters owner, who then removed the non-venomous species from the property.

Howard posted the images to Facebook and they have since gone viral sending social media into a virtual meltdown of snaky steaminess. Source: Facebook/ Wild Encounters.

“There were eight snakes involved, two females and two males were mating, another female and male lying there and two other males waiting until after the boys had finished,” Mr Howard said.

The 'playful eight' have since been transported to a more suitable location.

This time of year snake catchers are called out two or three times a day to move breeding snakes to alternative locations.

Each female snake will lay around 15 eggs per season however only one of those will make it to adulthood, Howard said.
