'It’s a crime scene!': Mum's hilarious response to huge explosion in her pantry

A mother trying to get some “mum time” got a rude awakening when she heard a loud bang in her kitchen.

Queensland mum Chelsea Timoti tentatively went to investigate the noise and found her kitchen was “painted red” on Sunday evening.

The bang was so loud it woke her husband who Ms Timoti described as a deep sleeper.

Ms Timoti said both she and her husband were “utterly confused”.

They both stood in their kitchen, trying to figure out the source of the noise and splattered red mess.

Then they noticed the pantry door was open and they found the culprit – a bottle of ALDI pizza sauce that had exploded “all over my pantry, kitchen cabinets and floors”.

“I’m standing there completely stunned,” Ms Timoti wrote in the Facebook group Mums Who Clean.

“How does this even happen?

“I’d understand if it was the middle of summer and it’s boiling hot and under pressure from the heat, but it’s freezing cold where I live.

“This is exactly what I want to be doing close to midnight in my down time.”

Ms Timoti added she had to capture the evidence on camera before she cleaned up the splatter.

“ALDI has some explaining to do,” she said.

Many of the group members sympathised with Ms Timoti and her late night cleaning spree.

“It’s a crime scene in there,” one woman said.

“There’s mum time gone,” another mum sympathised.

Many of the group members tried help Ms Timoti get to the bottom of the reason for the explosion.

“Maybe it was gas from bacteria in the sauce bottle?” one person suggested.

“That’s why they say to keep it in the fridge once opened,” another person said.

Ms Timoti explained she had not even had a chance to open the bottle, so it remained in the pantry.

Some responded explaining they had also been the victim of an exploding condiments.

“We had this happen with unopened tartare sauce, there is still oily stains on the ceiling about 10 years on,” a Facebook group member wrote.

One woman said she had also experienced the wrath of explosive ALDI pizza sauce.

“This happened to me with the exact same pizza sauce from ALDI. My bottle had been opened and was left in the pantry,” the supermarket’s customer said.

One pizza lover in the group took the post as a stern warning, but said the risk wouldn’t stop her from enjoying her favourite sauce.

“I have a sealed bottle in the pantry, it’s been there around six months... maybe I should move it just in case. On another note, how good is ALDI pizza sauce?”

ALDI told Yahoo News Australia they were investigating the case of the exploding pizza sauce and had contacted Ms Timoti.
