Oz Lotto: Scam fears delay Queensland mum's $25 million win

A family in Queensland woke up to screams this morning after a mum held one of two winning division one lottery tickets.

On Tuesday night, Oz Lotto's $50 million draw saw two people become multimillionaires, pocketing $25 million each.

The mum from Rockhampton is the first of the two winners to find out the good news, after The Lott struggled to get hold of the Queensland winner, a registered punter.

Last night officials from The Lott tried contacting the mother, however she didn't return the missed calls until Wednesday morning, when she got the good news before breakfast.

“I saw I had some missed calls. My phone was on silent last night as I get scam texts," she told The Lott on Wednesday morning.

“I even joked to my husband that it might be The Lott calling me. But that was a joke. Trust me, never in my wildest dreams would I have thought I’d win $25 million.”

The mum was shaking and crying after hearing the incredible news. Her family came rushing out of their bedrooms and she yelled the good news.

“We’ve won the lottery! We’ve won $25 million!” she yelled to her family, admitting she had already cuddled her family while on the phone.

The mum explained she bought her lottery ticket at the last minute on Tuesday when she realised there was $50 million up for grabs.

The mum said the family hadn't "been having much fun" recently, but the $25 million was going to change their lives.

When asked how she was going to spend the money, the mum said she could only think of practical things to do with it.

"The first thing I want to do is buy a new car for my husband. He drives around an ancient old car," she said.

"I’m going to get myself a new house.

“I can only think of practical things at the moment. It just doesn’t feel real. I think this has completely derailed my day. I’ll be looking at this ticket all day.”

The mother purchased the 50-game QuickPick ticket online.

Lotterywest will be liaising with the other winner from Western Australia.

For Oz Lotto draw number 1458, the winning numbers were 17, 31, 22, 11, 26, 36 and 4, the supplementary numbers were 16 and 6.
