Police appeal for help after discovery of woman's body in Queensland

Police have made an appeal for information following the discovery of a woman's body in a creek west of Brisbane.

The deceased woman, said to be 69 years old, was found on Monday in West Creek at Kearneys Spring in Toowoomba at about 9.30am.

Authorities said a member of the public made the grisly discovery.

Initial investigations suggest the woman left her place of work at a shopping centre in Kearneys Spring at about 2.30am on Monday, police said.

A post-mortem will be conducted on Tuesday.

"The death is being treated as suspicious at this time, until proven otherwise," said detective inspector David Isherwood on Monday.

Police are urging anyone who may have information to come forward.
